A highly skilled and experienced instructor, I offer writing support for individual projects and constructive coaching in writing skills. I’ve been a mentor to students at all levels, from middle school through postgraduate studies, and specialize in personal essays for college and graduate school admissions.
In tutorial sessions, I accompany the student through the process of writing an essay, from outline and organization through drafts and revision to final grammar and spelling reviews. We begin with a discussion of the goals, assignment or essay topic, work on creative and appropriate solutions. My approach is warm and supportive, with a focus on discovering hidden skills and building confidence. Through the tutoring process, I also aim to convey my own love of writing and literature to offer an experience of lasting value.

EXPERIENCE
As an Instructor at Cornell University, I taught courses in English Composition, Writing from Experience, Practical Prose Composition and Academic Skills, as well as intensive tutorials in a Writing Workshop setting. I co-designed and taught an award-winning writing course that was adopted as a permanent course offering in both Cornell’s Department of English and Women’s Studies Program; trained and supervised graduate teaching assistants; and developed curriculum for pre-college students. I went on to teach English Composition at Stanford University. I’ve also worked successfully as teacher and editor with writers for whom English is a second language.
